A minor fender bender usually does not cause excessive injuries however, on occasion you can sustain whip lash injuries, concussions or even back injuries. The damage to the vehicle does no always mean the injuries and pains are not there. Therefore, regardless of the damages to your vehicle, if you are not feeling the same as before your accident it is always a good idea to consult a Physician or a Chiropractor. The injured parties involved in more excruciating accidents should also take their injuries very serious. It is not unusual for your symptoms to exist several days later. Your symptoms can include bruising, headaches, soreness of the muscles, tingling, aches throughout your body and sometimes fatigue.
HERNIATED DISC/BULGING DISC
Depending on the severity of your injuries, it is not uncommon for the injured party to sustain a Herniated Disc or Bulging Disc caused by the accident. Both discs are located on the spine and can range from your neck down to your lower back. The symptoms range from numbness to your fingers, shooting pain down either leg and, tingling in your hands. Other symptoms include intolerable pain when sitting or standing for long periods, headaches, and difficulty moving your neck from one side to the other.
Compression fractures are another common injury caused by car accidents. These fractures are small cracks that will appear in the vertebrae after an impact. Compression fractures can eventually cause the vertebrae to collapse and deform, reshaping the spine. In addition to changes of posture, compression fractures can also lead to difficulty breathing. Around two-thirds of compression fracture injuries go undiagnosed because they are common among adults and the symptoms are generally associated with aging and arthritis.
The Spinal cord is one of the most important parts of the body. When healthy, it carries messages between the brain and the rest of the body, but when injured in a car accident, it can cause serious problems. The spinal cord can be injured when the impact from the car crash causes a blow to the spine, damaging the delicate nerves.
